Post 555 is planning to start a Junior Shooting Sports Program and gun safety program in Ely.

The American Legion Junior Shooting Sports Program is a gun safety education and marksmanship program that encompasses the basic elements of safety, education, enjoyment and competition. Shooters use the .177 caliber air rifle.

When started, the club will meet and practice at the Ely American Legion Hall.

Boys and girls ages 10 to 18 can participate. The plan is to create a youth club and compete with other posts.
