Colonel See speaks at Ely’s Memorial Day Program

Colonel (retired) Bill See addresses attendees at Rogers Grove Cemetery near Ely as part of the community’s memorial day activities on May 30, 2016. Colonel See discussed the nation’s wars and the role of the citizen soldiers in preserving our freedom.

Also pictured are Post 555 members Rob Smith and Tom Vavra and members of the choirs of Ely Presbyterian Church and St. John Lutheran Church in Ely. The combined choir performed the Star Spangled Banner, Land of the Free and God Bless America. The program also included a ceremonial ringing of the church bell for those who died in service to their county, a 21 gun salute and the playing of Taps.

Earlier, Colonel see presented Certificate of 50 years of American Legion membership to Robert Carlo (right) and a Certificate of 70 years of American Legion membership to Chuck Vavra.
