The Ely Sons of the American Legion is offering the Ely community an opportunity to display a 3\u2019 x 5\u2019 nylon American Flag on a 10 foot pole in front of your home or business on four national holidays: Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, and Veteran\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n
Upon placing your subscription, the Sons of the American Legion with mark the location of the flag along the street in front of your home or business and contact Iowa One-Call for a utility marking. After the utilities have inspected and approved the proposed site, we will place a flag pole receiver in the marked location and ensure it is at ground level so it does not interfere with mowing or walking. On the day before the holidays, volunteers will deliver the flags and retrieve them the day after the holiday. For all renewals, the flag pole receiver will be inspected, repainted and, if needed, driven back to ground level.<\/p>\n
The annual subscription is $50 for the four holidays with all proceeds supporting the Ely American Legion and other local organizations. Join our neighbors in this colorful, patriotic program. You may also subscribe in honor of a soldier, or in memory of a loved one, or you can donate a subscription to someone else\u2019s home or business, just be sure we have their address for One-Call and flag placement.<\/p>\n
