Ely Community Awareness Night

In the light of recent public safety concerns across the nation, residents are invited to join the City of Ely and the Ely American Legion for a Community Awareness night. This two hour informational presentation will serve as a lesson or reminder on how we can all work to be more aware of our surroundings and helpful tips on staying safe.

We will be having a speaker from Chains Interrupted, a non-profit organization committed to fighting against human trafficking, a survivor of Human Trafficking, as well as a Community Outreach Officer from the Linn County Sheriffs Department. The presentation will conclude with a demonstration by a local Self Defense Instructor, Todd Miskimen. Todd will have information available about private lessons that he offers as well as other local self defense classes.

This event is free and open to the public – all ages are welcome. We ask that you RSVP as “GOING” only if you plan on attending so we can gauge an accurate head count. In the event of reaching capacity, we may host another event for those who miss the cut off.

Thursday, August 16 at 6 PM – 8 PM
