The Ely Legion is ready to kick off its Junior Shooting Sports Program and gun safety program: The Triple Nickel Sharpshooters.

The American Legion Junior Shooting Sports Program is a gun safety education and marksmanship program that encompasses the basic elements of safety, education, enjoyment and competition. Shooters use the .177 caliber air rifle.

The first meeting for shooters and parents will take place at the Ely Legion hall at 6:30 pm on Wednesday November 2nd. At this meeting information about the program will be made available and sign up sheets will be filled out.

Boys and girls ages 10 to 18 can participate. The plan is to create a youth club and compete with other posts.
